fantastisk dansk bibliotek!
Daughter #2 is now in Hjorring at the north end of Jutland, Denmark trying out for a pro women's soccer team. More importantly (in some minds) she has visited the local library and gotten herself a card. If you would like to see how to build (and record) a wonderful new library check out www.vimeo.com/927925

Up, up and away!
My daughter Emily and her husband James ran the Peak Challenge on Saturday morning, from Parkgate up Mount Seymour and did so well, that they have both been named to the Canadian Mountain Running team, to compete at the world championships in Switzerland on September 14th! Am I a proud mama, or what?

I'm jumping ahead!
Playground Task #20 is to do with ASKAWAY. As I've already had the training, but not actually answered any questions, I have only a negative response to this service. I can imagine that it COULD be very useful BUT my impression, reinforced by all the people I know who have taken part in it, is that having a school librarian on duty and/or someone who knows how to use a reference book, and/or training during a computer class would be far more instructive to the majority of users who happen to be school students. Also I have been told that their lack of courtesy leaves something to be desired. Our VPL trainer filled the class with horror stories about the rudeness and impatience of many of the questioners, such that we were all reluctant to start answering anything. As well, there seemed to be a variety of responses from the trainers, some "spoonfeeding" the students and others preferring them to use their own intelligence to find the answers.
I am sorry to be so negative but I'm afraid that until I try for myself that is my response to ASKAWAY!

leery of King Lear!
The best part was sitting in the front row a foot away from the young man playing Edgar who disrobed down to his skivvies! There was a cold wind blowing and I would have happily shared my warm ruana, but.. alas! he climbed a ladder and went mad!
Actually the best part was Christopher Gaze singing -he sounds just like John Lennon!
I can't recommend the performance unless you are REALLY keen on Shakespeare. In any case, choose a warmer night!

the sun'll come out tomorrow! tomorrow!
Although the weather is lousy and you may need to wear longjohns, may I recommend the offerings at this summer's BARD ON THE BEACH. Twelfth Night is an absolute gem, with lots of music and insanely funny scenes. Long but worth it!
I go to King Lear tonight and will report apres....
